You've probably all heard about the new vulnerability that's been announced in Windows XP, 2000, and NT. Long story short, a buffer overrun flaw was just discovered and made public in Windows' NT-based operating systems. If you run this OS, you should fix this vulnerability immediately.
A friend of mine was a victim of this vulnerability last night. It allowed someone who had found her IP address to create an administrative account on her computer from wherever he was. He then started putting script kiddie B.S. files on her desktop, like a folder that was called "J00 h4v3 b33n h4x0r3d by some snotnosed little punk" or whatever.
If you are running Windows XP, 2000, or NT, go directly to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and install whatever critical items they have. Keep going there, installing, rebooting and repeating until all the "critical" updates are on your system. Do this now, and instruct your friends who are on these OS's to do the same.
You should be doing this on a regular basis anyhow, :D
Thanks,
c.c.r.
