Airport Extreme Help

I just bought a powerbook today, which has a built in airport card if im not mistaken.

I try to connect it to my cable modem and it wont connect to the internet.
I try to plug my cable modem to the airport and its not working.
Can someone please help me out...this is my first Mac.

You got a base station too or any other 802.11g router correct? not just the card?

If so what brand router, and what have you tried so far?

Try this:

1. Unplug the power cord from the cable modem.
2. Unplug the power from the airport base station.
3. Wait a full minute.
4. Plug the power cord into the cable modem, wait until the lights on the cable modem show that you have a proper connection.
5. Plug the power cable into the base station.
6. Turn on the computer, it should connect if you did the set up of the network correctly.

I switched from a Windows desktop to a Powerbook about a month ago, and for some things your old Windows skills will give you a good starting point. Welcome to the other side!!
