warranty international?

I live in the uk but hav had second thoughts about an EU ipod due to the volume limitation i am going to purchase an ipod from america (on ebay) but i was wondering is the warranty valid in the UK??

as far as i?m aware apple gives you a world wide warranty on the ipod.
