My second Ipod is broken :L
Ok so yesterday I take my Ipod out with me to the diner. I try turning it on but it's non responsive. I'm thinking, Ok I haven't charged in two days, but NO way it's dead or anything. It wasn't as it turns out because I plugged it in to charge and I saw the hold icon was on. BUT the hold button was turned off. So my hold button is malfunctioning and I have to turn it on and off like 3/4 x before it responds. I did buy it at Best Buy, but I was stupid and didn't get their service plan. I had returned it once already because I had a hardware defective one, and did that on July 6. Now it's 20 days after their 14 day thing, and this has happened. How long does Apple take to fix your Ipod? I'm really anxious to get it back as I'm leaving for college the 18th of August and I was planning on taking it with me of course! :( Will they just fix the hold button or replace it, or replace the Ipod itself??

Ok so after fiddling with my Ipod some more I've found out that the hold button works more efficiently if you press down on it while sliding it. Still a little paranoid about it now like so many of you have gotten with a small fixable problem. Do you think I should have it serviced by Apple??

Ok I went to a local Apple store and they're ordering a brand new 30gb hardware unit for me. They said with the new ones they just replace em. Whew! :) AND I get to keep this one till it comes into their store next week so I have something to listen to!

I "broke" my hold button while opening my IPod... or so I thought I did. As it turns out, the button on the plastic wasn't aligned with the actual switch in the IPod. I just fixed that real quick and it's back to normal. Glad to hear yours works now though

Well the button was definitely messed up on mine. It still is lol. I looked up the closest Apple store and went there two days ago. I had called prior and they had told me on the phone they couldn't help etc but after talking to my brother, a dedicated Mac user, he said to go to the store and ship it out from there so I'd save on shipping. (Which I figure the box that Apple sent me yesterday had paid shipping on it anyways). I had sent out a shipping form on the Apple website but I didn't want to wait a week to get my Ipod back since I'm going on vacation in a weeks time. So long story short, I went to the Apple store, they would have replaced it on the spot (as they've been doing with any new 3rd gen Ipods having a problem) but they didn't have any in. Whether they didn't have any replacements in, or just only ones to sell I think is a different matter. But the guy sent the order out, was really friendly and helpful, and it will be here next Tuesday. Just gotta go pick it up. AND I got to keep my Ipod for now so I can listen to tunes all week and not be without it! Just can't really turn the hold button on unless I want to fiddle 5 or 6 times to turn it off ;) Props to Apple for #1 customer service. What I experienced there may encourage me to buy an Apple laptop as the next piece of hardware I purchase.
I just hope my new Ipod comes with the same cool "screen defect" where in direct sunlight you get that cool rainbow halo! :)
