About 4 months ago, my 5 gig iPod scroll wheel starting working intermittently, after the battery was recharged. I took the wheel cover off and cleaned it. No difference. I re-installed the software (the latest) and there was no difference. Eventually the wheel stopped working altogether (but the buttons still work). So, I bought headphones with an inline volume control, Panasonic RP-HT65 (20 ohms, 15hz - 22khz) for $ 29.95 cdn. They are wonderful. I use the iPod for long walks, so before I start the walk I set up a playlist in iTunes and update the iPod with it. Then I can walk and listen to the tunes (actually audible.com stuff). This worked until one day I decided to reinstall the software again. The volume got reset to a very low value and I have no way of increasing it. So I can't use the iPod except as a 5 gig firewire drive. I would get the scroll wheel fixed if the cost was reasonable. Any suggestions? Ed
