iPod display

Can the display be replaced? It works perfectly except for the left side of the display. I can't get s traight answer from Apple. They say I should just get a new one.

Apple is very bad about admitting iPods are broken. Did they say they'd give you a new one?

No, because it was dropped so they said the warranty is void. I'm willing to pay a fair price to get it repaired, but I shouldn't have to pay to replace it when it still works.jantonucci at 2007-11-15 15:06:45 >

Hey jantonucci,
What is wrong with the left side of the screen, does any text show up? or is the text distorted?
I'm asking because whenever I transfer large amounts of music from my PC to the iPod for about 45min straight, the iPod gets warmer then normal and the text on my screen looks distorted, as though it's bleeding I guess you could say. I also see faint lines running vertically from top to bottem.
I have contacted Apple and I will be sending it back to get checked out. I was just curious as to what happens with the left side of your screen.
