Verve Remixed 2 / Verve Unmixed 2
I seriously consider these two some of the best jazz (and jazz reinterpretation) albums I've ever heard. The Remixed side manages to produce some serious dance-worthy tunes (especially tunes like "Sinnerman" or "Slap That Bass") while still being respectful of the original works.
Want to find out just how respectful they are? Just buy the Unmixed version. In at least some cases you can actually find an album version in the shops which has both Remixed 2 and Unmixed 2 in the same case. It's not all that expensive either.
Oh, and for the Mac users out there: both Verve Remixed 2 and Verve Unmixed 2 are on the iTunes Music Store (one is in the Electronic section, the other is in Jazz) and you should be able to buy as much or as little as you want.

i liked the first 2 volumes of this series, but they got nailed by the underground dance music press. they said the EXACT opposite of what you did. said the remixes were terrible and disrespectful of the original material.
i thought they were pretty good, regardless. if you like the verve dance stuff, might i suggest rae & christian, koop, thievery corporation, nightmares on wax, etc.? some of them were even the remixers...
the koop album is sublime i might add.
