Gaps between songs
I hope this isn't one of those questions that's been asked hundreds of times. Is there any way to eliminate the gaps between songs when you rip an album. Example, many Pink Floyd songs run together and there is an annoying pause between songs.
I'm currently using MMJB. (I know, I know.......I'm just holding out for ITFW.
TIA

No there isn't. It's a limitation of mp3s. iTunes supports cross-fading to fake the effect, but the iPod doesn't.

Here's a goo link (http://www.geocities.com/altbinariessoundsmusicclassical/mp3gaps.html) on the cause of MP3 gaps and what you need to do to fix them.
As far as the iPod supporting cross-fading, maybe in an enhancement, but right now the iPod uses those gaps to refill the cache so they serve a purpose....
If they built a better buffer, that is, one that was filled up before it emptied, then this wouldn't be a problem.
As it is now, the iPod's buffer is designed to work like a car w/o a gas guage. It runs out of gas before you know to fill it up again.

Well I am a XP user but if I want no breaks between the songs I rip the concerning cd's/songs as one track [i.e. one mp3] cos I wouldn't listen to those songs as a single track but as an album, f.e. K&D Sessions from Kruder & Dorfmeister, live albums, etc.

I use Mp3Trim (http://www.logiccell.com/~mp3trim/) & find the results quite satisfying. Give it a try, it's free! :D
