Perhaps most Mac users aren't low life thieves or tight-wad Scotsmen and buy their music legally?

Search google for an app called Poisoned.

And then get a good lawyer for when the RIAA comes knocking.

a little more explanation:

poisoned is a mac app that searches a few networks, one of those being kazaa's real network.

i don't care what anyone says, the files available there SUCK. kazaa users are also the ones being hit by the RIAA's laywers. i only use poisoned as a means to get an app or something and i never share on it's networks.

if you want chart music, use the itunes store and pay the .99 for the songs you want.

my personal advice is to listen to something different. chart music is bland, uninspired garbage. go to mp3.com and try something new! and it's free and legal.

good luck if you go the poisoned route.

there are just as many mac users who are "low life thieves" as pc users, if you consider it percentage-wise.

i've scoured almost all the file sharing apps for mac. there's hundreds of thousands of them out there.

a little "high and mighty" aren't we, jacko?

come on now. i think that's a low blow.

i'm glad you can afford your music, or your software, or whatever, but it's easier and cheaper for me to go out and purchase a hand gun and commit crimes than it is to purchase something like adobe photoshop or logic 6.

look at the rap scene today. most of those guys get their start in crime. they build up their money to buy a studio and get out.

now, is that right?

It's never right. Nor is it 'high and mighty' to take a moral position on a moral issue.

I simply don't know whether Mac users are more or less honest than PC users as a group. It's simply not possible to make a judgement. They may be less likely to commit this particular crime because they may tend to be older and wealthier, and because their opprotunities for downloading are slightly lower. But who knows.

The point is really that no-one should be doing this, and your advice ("if you want chart music, use the itunes store and pay the .99 for the songs you want.") is excellent.

calling anyone who file shares copy righted music a "low life thief" is a bit high and mighty. i guess i was a low life thief when i was 10 years old. i copied songs off the radio, i copied albums for friends.

man, i bet the RIAA would love to get their hands on me! i've been breaking the law almost all my life! (cue judas priest here!)

again, there are just as many mac file sharers as there are pc. period. mac is 2.5 times the market. do some math, and just as many will be file sharing as the pc counterparts.

i've walked into recording studios who have nothing but cracked pro tools plug ins, etc. but i do think file sharing has an economic base.

"The point is really that no-one should be doing this, and your advice ("if you want chart music, use the itunes store and pay the .99 for the songs you want.") is excellent."

if we lived in a perfect world, i would agree with you. we don't. i'm tired of seeing MTV cribs type wealth being the goal of every human being. i'm sick of materialism.

and you know what, jacko? i'd love to take my own advice and be able to download from the itunes music store, but i can't because they don't have any music i like there! the real music artists who have been hurt by mp3's are NOT the major labels protected by the RIAA, but the indies! these are the people who need the money, and i can't even find their cd's in any store near me, and i live in a major city.

but i can sure as heck log onto soulseek and get anything i want...

it's a farked up world we live in...

Downloading music is not stealing. The RIAA is not arresting people for being thieves. Its copyright infringement. Anyone who downloads music should be labeled "Low Life Infringer".:D
