Older remote compatibility w/ 3G iPods?
Greetings,
I was wondering if the older remotes from either a 1G/2G iPod is compatible with the new 3G iPod. The reason why I'm asking is because I just purchased a new 10GB iPod (I'm guessing that's 3G), but I don't really want to shell out $59 bucks for a wired remote directly from Apple.

No they won't - they changed the style of plug when they brought out the 3G iPod. They separated the actual remote connection from the audio, although it is still housed in one plug, whereas on the 1G/2G the remote connection was integrated into the audio jackplug.

an additional question though. are there other remotes (3rd party) for the new 3G ipods that aren't as expensive as the one from apple? :)
