Bluetooth is a short-range (10m max) wireless link system intended for use with computers, phones, PDAs, etc.
It is the best idea if your idea of good sound is telephone quality. What most people fail to consider is that audio signals have to travel across this link and BT doesn't really have the practical bandwidth to support it. The remote's also going to get bigger since you're going to have to put batteries in it.
802.11b (wi-fi) would have the bandwidth but the power requirements are too big to put in a remote-sized device right now. High-speed bluetooth is in the works and this will also have enough bandwidth to support good quality stereo sound. Give it about 3 years. However I for one wouldn't mind one less wireless device in my personal space.
