belkin auto adapter - coming out
I bought a belkin auto adapter when I first got my ipod a couple of months ago. I use the unit with a fake cassette and for the most part am happy with the sound I get. However, in my car (a volvo), the adapter would slip out of the accessory plug a couple of times each commute and I'd have to push it back in. Yesterday I said enough is enough. I took a look and the plug and determined that the cause was due to the spring under the fuse being too strong. I snipped off one coil of the spring and put it back together. I did not have the problem this morning! Just thought I'd pass it on. Be careful not to snip off too much, or try using a spring from a cheap pen to experiment with.

That's a really smart way to also alleviate the problem some folks have with the AutoKit popping out of the cigarette lighters in their older VWs. Very cool, thanks!

Well, this *may* void your warranty...:
1. Unscrew the brass nut around the tip
2. Remove the nut and the brass tip
3. Pull out the fuse
4. Lightly tap the AutoKit on the table with the opening facing down to get the spring out.
Theoretically, you could keep going from here since this allows you to open the whole housing. "Fold" the upper tip part upwards, then pull it out of the white dome. It's kind of cool how they made it all come (and stay) together!
