iTrip - High pitch tone GONE
On some radiotuners I've got the high pitch tone, and on some they are gone. But on the most inportant radio (the one in my car) I have the tone. I found out that it had something to do with the stereo encoder. And I found a way to let the iTrip transmit in mono.
The tone is GONE.
It's in mono but that's not a problem with the yourmaclife.com radio show.

Now you have a nice iPod with the matching iTrip, but when you listen to it on your radio you hear a high pitch tone.
When you don't hear this high pitch tone, this isn't for you.
When you hear such a tone, read on.
What's the matter:
By pressing the mono/stereo selector on my tuner I found out the tone had something to do with the stereo encoder in the iTrip itself.
When your tuner is in mono, you don't hear the high pitch tone, when it's in stereo it's overly clear there.
After a bit reverse engineering I found a way to let the iTrip transmit in MONO. It's a workaround, I know. But it's better than the pitch tone, which gave me headaches.

Awesome. Simply awesome.
Mono makes no difference in my car. With the stock stereo and windows open, the subtle panning of sound left to right is lost.
With these files, I can turn the volume back up on the iPod and move it right next to my stereo. [Things I couldn't do because the tone got louder] It makes the sound clearer and fuller. The mono without the tone is much better than stereo with it.
Note for pmleenes: I went to make the $2 donation and the Kagi system said it was below the minimum $2.50 purchase. You should bump it up .50. And thank you very much!
