iPod / car antenna reception question
Does anyone know if I were to unhook my antenna from my car stereo - would the reception from my FM transmitter improve due to the lack of other intruding stations?
This is what I am using to connect my iPod to my stereo currently:
Arkon Wireless Audio Adapter - $20, takes (1) AA battery
Model: SF120

It works pretty good if you can find an empty frequency on the dial. Otherwise it's pretty frustrating considering I commute 35 miles to work between two cities. That's why i was wondering about disabling the antenna - to limit the number of frequencies that can pull in weak signals and hopefully open up some more for my FM transmitter to overpower.
I am currently leasing my car so replacing the head unit is out of the question. Once my lease is up I'll probably get a new unit with an input jack on the front so I can just connect the iPod directly with a headphone jack.
The biggest problem is my car (Acura Integra) has a power antenna that's not really easy to get to. That's why I was hoping to get a technical answer to my hypethesis, if possible before trying to get at it.
Thanks!

No. The empty hole where the antenna connects would not pick up your iPod, and certainly wouldn't be better than minor interference.
This, however, WOULD help.
You would UNPLUG your antenna, and PLUG in this FM modulator into the antenna plug.

Normally, you attach your real antenna to the modulator (ala passthrough), but if you aren't interested in the radio, and would rather minimize interference, don't reinsert it!
Hope this helps. Sorry my answer costs 40 bucks. ;-)

Yeah, I saw that on the Crutchfield site when I first got my iPod. The problem is how incredibly difficult it is to get at the back of my receiver. I have a late model Integra and you have to take off quite a bit of the center console and dash just to get at the stereo. Not something I want to do while my car is still under lease. I guess I'll just have to deal with it for a few more months until my lease ends and I can upgrade to a new head unit with a front AUX port.
Thanks!
