Hot Tip: USB/Firewire cable info
I didn't see it listed anywhere, but I discovered that using the new USB/FireWire cable from Apple with my G3 30 Gig iPod let's me run the USB connection to my pc and Charge the iPod using the FireWire connection into the AC adapter!
This was a surprise. It seems Apple would tell you, since they mention that the USB connection will not charge the iPod.
Is it just me, or does the new G3 pod seem to "forget" to turn itself off and eat the battery? I've taken to locking it after powering off to avoid the dead battery blues.

Are you referring to the usb cable that goes directly to the ipod or the one that goes to the docking station with the firewire as well?

I'm refering to the cable with docking station plug (that also plugs into the bottom of the G3 iPod) that has both firewire and usb cables attached. I'm not aware of a usb only cable for the G3 bottom plug, but there probably is one.
