DC Charger for Airplane

Does anyone know if the standard Belkin DC charger will work on airplanes that have power ports (in particular American Airlines). The charger I have for my laptop says it has input of 11-16 vdc, 8A max. I would assume that is what the airplane puts out. It uses the standard cigarette plug.

Thanks.

Most of the airlines use an empower plug which is different from a car lighter plug. Many of the computer power adapters have a convertable plug that allows use with both an airplane and with your car. I don't think that the Belkin car power supply for the IPOD is compatable with the airline plugs.

IGO and Targus make power supplies that can power multiple devices such as PDAs, computers, cell phones etc. As far as I know, an IPOD tip is not available yet. I am using an IGO juice that can recharge both my computer and my cell phone. I hope that they will come out with a tip that will also power the IPOD for long international flights.

I tried it out and it works fine.

I use the car adaptor (12 volt) with a empower plug to car lighter plug adaptor.
