Traveling to europe with my iPod

Do I need a separate charger for my iPod when in europe or can I simply buy an adaptor for the one that came with my iPod ( north america) ?
Does the "charger" that comes with the iPod convert to 220 volt ?

Careful, either the volume output will magically decrease when entering Europe, or you will be mugged by desperate Europeans dissatisfied with their volume caps!
