Apple remote wire problem

I've had my 30GB iPod for about a month & a half. I don't think I use it excessively or anything but today I noticed that the remote wire rubbery casing is pulling away from the remote connector (near the base, where it connects to the iPod). Is this fixable?? I am most displeased. *grr*

Hithis is happening to my ipod mini, but on the wires that branch off to the seperate headphones at the plastic v. This is the second set of heaphones now too!
Is there a number in the uk, where i could ring, and will apple send me a new set? thanks
