iTripping impracticalities
Firstly I would like to say that, the iTrip is a good solution, all in all. It's easy, looks good and is very swift. It's like a remote control for your stereo.
The problems most people seem to be having is the lack of good radio frequencies. This I have not found...although the strength of the transmission could always be improved, generally (for me) I keep it on the default 87.5, and no problems, perhaps a bit of fuzz when no music is playing, but not harmful.
There are also other problems with the iTrip, such as it not being 100% reliable (not changing stations, or not turning itself on properly). But these to me are small, harmful problems.
The biggest problem is the 60 second shut off timer... Last night I was playing music in my room, they were nice soothing, relaxing tunes, I was also doing a few other things at the same time. Then suddenly, a loud ffsshhshshshh, the sound of full radio static...it's not kind to the ears, and makes the whole itripping experience all together not a pleasent one, both for me and my guests.
The problem occurs when someone turns the volume down, or an album finishes, or the iPod is simply paused. And it has happened many times, and I am none too pleased. Why cant griffin give you the option of turning off the 60 sec limit, I would much prefer the itrip transmitting silence, I dont think it would drain that much energy, seeing as your ipod wouldnt be playing music. And it would also be energy I would be willing to sacrafice.
You can turn the light off, so why cant you turn the auto-shutoff. Ridicolous designing in my opinion.
Has anyone had the same experience, or should I just be more careful and pay more attention to my iPod?
