safe to leave ipod charged all the time?
like the topic says :)
have an ipod installed in my car, and was wondering if i could leave the charger plugged in all the time. is it safe leaving the ipod connected to a constant power source?

depends...make sure your car doesnt pull current through the charger when it is turned off. i am wondering if the belkin car charger has voltage sensing in it. If it does, then you should be able to leave it plugged in without a problem. If not, even when it is full, the car charger still trys to charge it.

A friend of mine asked me the same question... my understanding is that the battery is rated for X number of complete discharge and charge cycles, and keeping the battery constantly charging probably decreases [fractionally] that number of cycles that the battery can handle.
I'm sure there's wear and tear, but I don't know how much and whether it's detrimental to the point where you should let it run down before you connect it back up.
With my first gen 5 gb I kept it connected all the time for about a year and the first thing that went wrong was the firewire connector being flaky, not the battery dying.
