Preordering the New iTrip?

Is this a good idea or not? Should I wait?

I just pre-ordered mine this morning.

Look at it this way...if you're set on buying it sooner or later, pre-order it now.

Otherwise, when it backorders, you will kick yourself, trust me...

good luck

Ok, I will preorder it. I'll think of it as a birthday present, since mine is on July 30 :)

haha, mine is july 16th...

I can't wait until I use my itrip at work (Circuit City) and play uncut songs and have my manager wondering why the public radio is doing that. :D

I called Griffin up direct to "pre-order" the new iTrip about a month ago and they told me it's better to have an order in early so you can get it faster.
Still waiting..............

I'm very excited to receive this iTrip. It works on any radio station, so its not necessarily for car use only. I can transmit without having to have a direct connection if the device I want to transmit to doesn't have it or I am in a hurry to connect.

Folks,

I was surprised that I could not see many pics on the griffin website showing how it looks. I mean sepcifically regarding the size? Is it smaller in diameter to the first gen since the ipods are also significantly thinner? Or is it gonna be a bit bulging over the sieze of the ipod?

Not that ir majes a difference mind you-i am ordering as I type...
heh heh heh

I am not so sure about the size, but since I have a 30GB and it is the larger one, closer to the size of the original 5 and 10, I don't really care as much. I hope it is smaller though, for the sake of the skinny 10 and 15GB owners.

There are many other fm transmitters out there, what makes iTrip the best one? I hear soo much about it, but it sounds like they're all the same

Update: Oh, and on the web site, there is a pic of the iTrip from the side that compares it to the iPod... it looks like it is almost the same as a 10/15 gb iPod (looks like a slim one)...

Also, go to the technical specs tab when you click on the iTrip, and it tells you how thick it is (or thin)

I've actually heard the iTrip with the original iPod and it sounds very good. Very high quality for a fm transmitter. Also, I like how it looks like it really FITS on the iPod.

As I understand it, the key points of the iTrip are:

Digital tuning (station will not drift)
Every station on the dial available (some only broadcast on 4 stations)
Looks pretty/matches iPod
Draws power from iPod, does not require additional batteries

The last item may or may not be good, depending on your situation. I'll be using the Belkin charger, which fits into the Docking port, so that is no problem for me. There are some other transmitters available that handle digital tuning.
