iTrip and Firewire Cover...
I just bought an iTrip off ebay... I read somewhere the firewire cover can be removed on 2nd gen ipods... I might want to do this to give to iTrip a better fit. Any ideas how this is done and if it can be put back without trouble? I mean I could just give it a yank, but I don't want to break it!

give it a yank, you wont break it.
I recon the itrip fits fine in the firewire slot anyway, as long as you push it in quite hard it stays in securley and isnt affected by the cover.
But if you want the cover off then go for it, you can always put it back on later.

Not so much the fit...but the iTrip would look better plugged in, without the firewire cover jutting out... Does the cover just slide right out? How is it anchored into the pod? And more importantly how do I get it back in?

it's only very slightly anchored into the ipod, the reason why it feels so sturdy is because the material is quite strong. You have to give it a good tug, but as long as you don't break it (which you wont) you'll be fine.
It's a bit fiddly to slot in, took me a while, you just got to force it back in like you forced it out.
Dont be afraid of it, your ipod is a solid piece of equipment.
