I have no affiliation with these vendors/products nor have I tried them personally - just passing this on to anyone interested in the hopes that it proves helpful.

My own recommendation for inexpensive ($30), excellent sounding and very portable headphones (I own these and love them):

Thanks sandman, although I do have a direct input for my truck, I was going to use a cassette adapter for my wife's honda odyssey, but since reading your post decided to order one for her car which does not have a cd changer. I just thought of something.... maybe she'll eventually want an ipod of her own...what have I done? oh well, thanks again for the info.

Has anyone tried this cable ?

The IO Gear version suffers from "crosstalk" and won't connect the Pod to my laptop.

If this one works, I'll buy it.

Will have to give up on the retractable F'wire, I guess. This from the Zip-Linq site:

FIREWIRE [ tech support ]
Q. I cant get the Firewire cables to work with my iPod or External hard drive.
A. Because of their compact size Zip-Linq Firewire cables can only transmit data 400Mbps and have a maximum voltage of 5V at 300ma. They will not work with large external drives or the Apple iPod. They do work with some external drives that have their own power source.
