old iTrip for new iPod??
Hi ..
does anybody know if the current iTrip (the one made for the old iPods) will work on the new ipod if I file the firewire plastic bit down..
Basically I can't be arsed waiting for the new iTrip, so i thought i'll buy the current iTrip and then sell it when the new iTrip comes out.
Has anyone tried the iTrip with the new iPods? Would it work if i just filed the firewire thingy?
Cheers
James

I dont think it would as the iTrip gets its power from the same way the remote control does. And you may have noticed that the remote control is different on the new iPods. (i.e. old ipods have an outer ring, new ipods have an extra port for the remote).

www.ipoding.com ripped apart an iTrip and made it to work with the docking iPOD.
As it would not work though.
I asked Griffin Tech and they said the new one would be out in 6 to 8 weeks.
It would be interesting to see where would the new iTrip get hooked up to, it would be great if they could go via the docking port as it could means the audio is from the Line Out port rather than the headphone. Line out is so much more "cleaner" in SQ than the headphone out.
