Base for older iPods

I bought a 10 gig a couple weeks before the latest ones came out. Needless to say, I wished I had a base for it.

Anyway, I contacted Roger Carter at Becart who had done some custom metal work for me in the past and he made me a very cool base out of aluminum. I think it's awesome, I told him he should produce them for sale! Think there would be any interest in something like this?

I would guess probably not. dvforge came out with one a few months back, I don't think they sold very well. There are just too many inexpensive stands available. But it's your call. Does look good though.

jack--

i would buy one! that looks *awesome*. how much would it cost to have one made for a first gen 5 gig ipod? dont forget that the 5 gig is a little thicker than your 10 gig. i would be really interested in buying one if they can make one for a 5 gigger :)

[edit] - i forgot to ask, but does the base scratch the ipod at all? it seems like metal on metal would do that...

I've only had mine for a couple days now. So far no scratching. He is rounding the edges on all the corners that contact the iPod though so it shouldn't be a problem.

He hasn't really started marketing them yet, so I don't know about price or anything. But I'm sure he can make one that fits your 5 gig. (He can make ANYTHING!) Shoot him an email at roger@becart.com and tell him what you need. He's a real good guy.
