belkin car doohicky
Ok, Im new to the whole iPod thing and, if my evil plans go correctly, by the end of the week I should be the owner of a 15 gig iPod3. Now I have been doing research and reading and what-not, and im confussed about this belkin thing. I have a sony xplod system in my car with xm radio and plan to run the iPod thru the aux in on the XM reciver. Now ive been reading that the headphone out generaly sucks for hooking it up to a stereo or in-car. So, (please correct this if its wrong) the belkin car charger plugs into the bottom of the iPod into the dock input, and allows you to utilize the line out feature that can only be accessed when the iPod is docked... is that right? If not is there a product that allows you to use the line out? any help/advice would be great.

I have the Belkin FM transmitter and am torn whether to keep it or ditch it. Im sure they're not all perfect but man... sometimes it works great, others i want to through it out the window.
Anyone else own a Belkin FM transmitter? Switch to something else that works better?
thanks!

I was frustrated with the Belkin FM transmitter as well . . . until today. I live in an area where there is bleed through on all four station choices. Needless to say the reception was spotty and I found the only way to get decent reception was to hold the transmitter in my hand (I guess I became a giant antenna for the thing).
I went to Radio Shack and picked up an 8 foot stereo extension cable. My intention was to get the Belkin as close as I could to the antenna built into my front windshield. I plugged the cable into the Belkin car charger I also own, the charger into the ipod, turned on the ipod and no static. I figured there had to be some mistake I hadn't even moved the transmitter anywhere near the antenna yet. I turned on the engine figuring the static would begin as soon as I pulled out of the parking lot. Still no static. I moved the transmitter a couple different places and the result was always the same . . . clear reception. I don't get it. The only Thing I can figure out is that the added cable is acting like a stronger antenna to the windshield antenna. Whatever. All I know is that the Belkin is now working great and I won't need to buy an itrip and hoist my ipod as close as I can to the windshield while I drive.

Awesome! That's gotta be it, since the Belkin charger is carrying current and it's attached to the iPOD... it's gotta be helping it just like it does when you hold it.
awesome... so you have the cigarette lighter charger that belkin puts out? it's white too right?
thanks!

Yeah. I have the white car charger which works great. I just plug the 8 foot entension cable into the line out on the charger. Clear sound again today on my way to work. I think I may be on to something.

Hey,
I just got my iPod running in my babe machine. I have a Sony reciever also, but I had to buy an aux input dealy box.
So far the sound quality isn't that bad. It's certainly not so bad that I'm going to run out and buy something else to make it sound better.
