iTrip or not?

I pre-ordered an iTrip back in February to use my iPod in my car. Since then, I installed a a new CD player in my car that has multiple Aux inputs, so I wired my iPod in. Well Saturday, I found my pre-ordered iTrip on my front porch, I forgot that I had ordered it. I like the general idea of the iTrip, since i wouldn't have any extra wires in my car, but then again, the sound quality wouldn't be as great. So, should I send the iTrip back, or should I keep it? Would the difference in sound quality be considerably different than having it wired directly? I think it would be cool to keep for when I am in someone elses car, our house. Anyone who has one and could give me their opinions of the iTrip, I would greatly apreciate it. Thanx.

I use AUX-IN in the car because of sound, but use the iTrip for other cases where there is no other option. If you haven't opened it, you could also sell it on eBay, last one I saw was $77.

I can see an iTrip coming into use at times. If you have a few passengers in your car, the wires could be a problem. Or you might want to play your tunes in a friend's car w/o AUX inputs. Of course, if you decide to get rid of your iTrip, I would be happy to pay you the cost and shipping for it, as mine is set to ship as late as June 10th.

you know, if you wanna keep the itrip, i'll take the new car deck off you ;)

kidding aside, unless you see yourself using it at least weekly, or at least a couple times a month, and are happy with the sound quality, i'd sell it. if p00n1s doesn't take it off you, i will!

I checked on these boards before ordering, so I ordered thru Apple. Their website says it will ship as late as 6/10. I would go AUX in but I can't find any RCA to CD-changer adapters for the 2003 Civic HU.

Looks like Apple exhausted their supply of iTrips then, and will wait until Griffin re-ups them. Either that or Griffin got a ton of canceled orders and complained to Apple about out-selling them!

I can use an auxiliary input to directly wire my iPod into my car stereo. However, I did end up ordering the iTrip for those business trips when I rent cars. I think the iTrip will be ideal for those occasions. We'll see (soon I hope)!

we're pretty much in the same boat though I don't do any travelling! I used mine the other day up in the bathroom when I was caulking the shower. Had a small boombox in there and just let it play. Sounded good for the situation, given the fact that bathrooms aren't the best audio enhancers ;)

I ordered an iTrip from Apple's online store on the 25th of May and it wasn't supposed to ship until the 10th. Tonight I got a confirmation email from Apple stating it had been shipped today, the 30th. I'd definately say order it through Apple's store vice Griffin directly.

I got mine yesterday, the 2nd. It was actually shipped out of Apple's wharehouse in Jonestown, PA. For something so many are complaining about being backordered with long lead times, 12 days from order to receipt isn't bad at all!

I was at the Apple Store in Oakbrook Mall (near Chicago) yesterday, and noticed there were about 10 of these iTrips on the shelves. You might want to call your local Apple Store if you happen to be close to one!
