Getting MP3s from iPod
Okay, question for you folks.
My hard drive that i used for media storage crapped out on me earlier today, and I don't know if I'm going to be able to get it back. While I didn't lose anything vital on it, the mp3's that i lost represent a lot of spent time.
On the plus side all most all of my songs were on my 3rd gen iPod.
So my question is, are there any programs that rip the mp3s from the iPod on to windows?
If there are not, would I be able to physically move them from the iPod to my HDD and then use a mass renaming program to rename them based on their ID3 tags? (Or visa versa, i forget how they are stored)

I haven't looked closely at it, yet, but I remember that in EphPod there's an option that lets you extract the info from the database by setting the usual string [%] in an option field. I presume therefore that EphPod is also capable of transferring songs from your iPod to Windows and saving them using the info from the database that you tell it to use.
NB. I do think it could be important to first try this with the same program that you used uploading the mp3s to the iPod. I've read that each program is using the iPods database/disc in their own particular manner...but I am not an expert yet and I did not looked at all at downloading mp3s from the iPod.

godcha's got it right. You can use ephpod, xplay or MC9 to do this.
Ephpod, just highlight the songs, right-click and select Download to PC. Same w/MC9
Xplay, just drag and drop the files.
All of the programs offer different ways to rename the files based on their original tags.

I am wanting to transfer my mp3's to my pc also. The only thing is I also own a creative nomad zen nx and i would like to transfer its files to my pc. Do you know if any programs that would work with the Creative Nomad?
