Ephpod of MC9 right out of the box?
My Ipod's finally getting here saturday and I want everything to be just right. I've been reading all the posts that say that Music Match sucks. Can I use Ephpod or MC9 right out of the box? Or must I install MusicMatch first to do the initial configurations and then change to Ephpod or MC9?
Also which one's better? Ephpod or MC9...and why?
Thanks a bunch.

I didn't install MMJB before using Ephpod. I did, however, install the iPod Manager, although I don't think it's required.
At this point, I'd recommend Ephpod over MC9, although MC9 is extremely feature-rich. This is mostly because we're all expecting iTunes for Windows to come out, and I can't see myself spending $40 for MC9 when a program from Apple will come out a couple weeks later and rival it in functionality while annihilating it in ease-of-use (assuming it's much like the mac version).
OTOH, you could use the 30-day trial of MC9, and hope iTunes comes out before it runs out ;)
Others may vehemently disagree with my comments above (try asking this question in the MC9 forum ;) ), so I'll put on my flak jacket.

I'm in agreement with you...I'm currently using ephpod and like it. MC9 looks cool, but like you, I'm waiting to see what Itunes for windows looks like.
Hopefully it'll be out soon!

Thank you both for the tip. I'll try the 30 day trial version of MC9 as well as Ephpod and see how it works out. I'll get the Ipod on Monday...I can't wait!!! I hope it's in good condition though b/c I see posts of people saying their refurbished ipods aren't in good condition.

There's a full board ( http://ipodlounge.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=20) for it with all sorts of Sticky's at the top w/the links you need.

I'd like to make a recomendation as I just got my ipod, and have learned as I went. Download the updater from the apple web page. Run setup. Remove ipod manager (add/remove programs), plug in ipod, run updater, start up ephpod and you're good to go.
I had a constant problem with the manager reconnecting the ipod right after I had just disconnected it. (Do not disconnect would go away then come back 3 seconds later). ipod manager really does nothing at all but tell you things you already know. (if it's connected-> ipod tells you as well as explorer, how much free space-> ephpod tells you, ect.)
