Do I need to keep jukebox at all ?

Newbie question !

I don't think this is covered in the sticky (if it is - sorry) !

Can I use ephpod by itself, i.e. without musicmatch or the ipod software ? If so how ?

I'm not bothered about the ipod management stuff, but I really don't want ( or like ) musicmatch.

Any help appreciated

For my iPod synching I only have EphPod installed, no iPod manager nor musicmatch stuff. When I put my iPod in the dock it will automatically be mounted by XP and after it's mounted I can just start up EphPod and sync away :D

So an easy A to your Q is NO.

Things I have installed for my mp3/iPod needs are:

EphPod
CDex
UltraTagger
MP3Gain
euPOD VolumeBoost
iPod Software 2.0.1 Updater v2
MP3 Splitter & Joiner

everything else ?

I thought it would need some sort of Apple driver for Windows to add it as a drive to XP ?

Are there clear instructions somewhere ?

No, you don't need anything from Apple installed. The iPod is just an external Hard Drive. Windows has everything it needs to make it work.

So, uninstall in this order:
1. MMJB iPod Pluing
2. MMJB
3. iPod Manager

Leave the Updater installed in case you need to do a restore later.

If you used Musicmatch for ripping, you will need some sort of software to replace it- CDex is very good.
