HELP! for a green, beginner
Hi there,
I am brand new to the whole MP3, IPOD thing. Can someone tell me where I can get a "Musicmatch/IPOD for Dummies" tutorial?
I am looking for step by step of how to download my CD's into MM, organize and then put them into the IPOD.
I am on Windows XP, MM 7.5, and connect thru USB to the IPOD.
Any help or links would be greatly appreciated. I am just sitting here staring at my IPOD in bewilderment.
thanks so much,
DeAnna

I'll jump in with a question as I'm new to MM and iPod and just learning. I have about 35 G's of music (and growing) and a 15 G iPod. As such, I'm manually loading my music as I haven't mastered 'playlists' and synching (I don't understand the relationship between playlists and the actual files but that isn't my really my question...i digress..)
Right now, my MM shows the one long list of individual songs in the window for iPod. Thats it. Is there any way to see the iPod as iPod can show it to me? I would like to be able to go in and see more than a list of song titles...making it easier to delete whole CD's or even Genre's from the iPod to make room for other CD's and songs I would like to take with me on the road. This doesn't seem to be an option. Does other software offer this? Or am I going to have to wait for a Windoes iTunes?

Nonesuch13, if you want to continue using MMJB to transfer files I think the answer (or at least part of the answer) you are looking for is to right click on the menu bar at the top of the portable device window in MMJB. That will bring up a list of display options that you can choose to show or not show - artist, album, etc. I do not know why these other options are not enabled in the first place.
To transfer mp3s, view the iPod contents, and delete mp3s from the iPod, I now use vPod (http://www.vonnieda.org/vPod/). It is free and you can see exactly what is on your iPod compared to the library on your PC. You can add everything from an artist, or an album, or just an individual song a lot more intuitively than with MMJB. Adding and deleting is as simple as checking/unchecking a box.
However, I don't think you can manage tracks by genre. You can see all track information easy enough, but as far as I know you cannot manage tracks based solely on genre.
I have never used a playlist so I can't really help there.

Thankyou for your reply. That helps a GREAT deal. I don't know why that isn't a default setting! That will make my music managment a LOT easier. I will explore some other programs when I get the time. Now if I could just find "Playlists For Dummies" I could understand how those work! I've set up a few small playlists for experimenting with and they keep showing up in my iPod whether I manually tranfer them or not. ug.

i'm not baggin Music Match or anything, why not try Ephpod, it transfers, so well, even when creating playlists and renamaing songs
for example all you do is
Ctrl N for new playlist
F2 for rename song
F3 for rename album
and to add songs just click on add songs tab
