To Split or Not To Split (a single track CD)

Hi,

I know this question can be asked in the "music" section, but since I'm a windows user, I figured that here is the place to ask.

Here's my question - I have a music CD that has a single track, running 57 minutes, should I split it to smaller chunks and if so, how can I do it?

Am.

Yes, you should, and EAC should help you in that, although some other programs can be useful too. I suppouse that you have WAV.

It's still in CD form - I haven't started doing anything as yet.

Has anyone split a mix CD? And is there a gap between tracks when used with ipod?

i found a free program called "free wave editor".
I often use it to remove the dead space at the end of some albums. I've also used it to combine all tracks into a single track from a cd to eliminate the pauses which you would hear on the Ipod. You can also use this program to split a wav file.

Try finding "MP3DirectCut". It can do simple edits to an MP3 without having to re-compress it. It will show you a waveform of the MP3 so you can see silence or you can play the track in order to find the best places to cut.

I use it to break apart the Retrogaming Radio show because a single 2 hour MP3 is a ####### to FF through.
