Deleting the "dead" noise at end of songs?
A lot of the songs that I've downloaded have between 5-15 seconds worth of "dead" noise at the end - the music is still playing, but the song's already ended (say a song that's listed at 3:42 but the download has it as 3:52 - 10 seconds of silence).
Does anyone know of any software (preferrably freeware) which can eliminate this?
Any help would be appreciated.

What iPod uploader do you use? It looks like your songs VBR encoded and your uploader software can't correctly calculate length. I do not recommend to use free ware, because it contains a lot bugs. MediaChest allows to change song length, however it isn't commercial quality software, so I can't recommend it. Try a trial version of MC9 to see if it corrects the problem.

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear.
The problem is not with the uploader (I'm using ephpod) but with the downloads. The songs are _downloaded_ with the extra 5-10 seconds of "dead" noise - it doesn't matter if I play them with my Ipod or on my computer. It's just that the problem is much easier to correct on the computer; with the Ipod, by the time I take it out of my pocket, 10 seconds will have passed - but the 10 seconds is enough to disrupt a good playlist.
I appreciate your help though. Second guesses are welcome as well. :D

The best solution can be just edit your MP3 to cut the "dead end" part. It will reduce a bit size of your files also. There are many programs to do that, however I can't recommend, since I do not use such program personally, just check for example
