drag playlist into ipod

I know you can sync up a playlist or smartlist onto an iPod, but I was wondering if there is any way to actually drag a list into an ipod so I can manage a list from MC9, and then have that list be available from "playlists" on the iPod.

Yes, just create a playlist in MC9, then drag and drop it onto the iPod in CDs/DVDs and Handhelds.

Or, if you're using the newest version (9.1.233), you can drop it onto the iPod as it appears in the "Action" window.

Is there anyway to upload a playlist onto the ipod WITHOUT having to duplicate the songs. It seems that everytime I upload or sync a playlist with the ipod it adds songs that are already on the ipod. How can I drag just the playlist, not the tracks themselves?

I could be wrong on this but I don't think MC9 duplicates songs on your iPod. I shows them "uploading" but in actuality it's skipping any songs that are already on the pod. That's why some songs look like they're being uploaded at ridiculous speeds. They aren't being uploaded at all.

The songs actually did duplicate on my ipod - I have upgraded to a newer version of MC9 and I'm hoping this will eliminate the problem.

Not sure how that happened k-rock. MC9 will not duplicate songs unless you have two version of the song in your MC9 library.

Make sure all the media in your MC9 library is accurate by going to File>Library>Update Library. Then check the "Delete files that don't exist" option. It won't delete any MP3s, just the entries in MC9's database.
