Help! Major Synch Issue with MMJB!

Ok, here's my situation:

I have a 20 gig hard drive on my laptop and am using mmjb. I filled the hard drive and therefore deleted all the music off my hard drive and set mmjb to no delete files on my ipod. I just added 8 gigs of new music to my hard drive and synched with ipod. Everything synched fine exept three sets of artists tripled up on my ipod (I know it's common with mmjb). Anyway, I fixed all the tags in mmjb but when I synch with ipod it does not add the correct tags to the ipod's database. I assume this is because ipod is set to not delete files upon synchronization. But, if I allow mmjb to delete files on ipod it is going to replace all my ipod music with only the new nine gigs of music on mmjb. So how do I synch the corrected tags in my mmjb database without deleting all of the remaining music on my ipod?

Sorry this was so longwinded, but I really need help.

Thanks,

estwd

Hope this helps~
First off i belive this should be in the MMJB section under the Windows portion of the forum. Nevertheless i will try to answer your question. As far as syncing, it will delete all your files and replace with 8gb on MMJB (just like you have stated) so the best thing to do is to just to get the files you edited...find those on your iPod through the Portable Device window...delete them...then drag your corrected files over. If you have WAY too many files to delete then drag like i said...then the best thing to do is to make up a backup copy of your current iPod...then add those files into your MMJB library and then sync it with the deleting option turned on.

Of course you can avoid this entire chaos all together by having Ephpod, where it allows you to easily locate files since they can be divided by artist and albums (unlike MMJB where only the songs are listed). Furthermore as far as i know...you can make backups through Ephpod but not MMJB. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Riceboi, you are right on the mark in advising to individually delete the unwanted files directly from the Portable Device window. However, I wanted to point out that MMJB allows you to display more than just song titles in this window. Simply right-click on the column header in the Portable Device window and select the additional columns you want to display (e.g., artist, album, file size, etc). You can then sort the iPod contents by single-clicking on any of the column headers, and easily find the artist you want to zero-in to delete.

yup, i just figured this out an hour ago (been spending the night trying to get music onto my new 15 gb ipod/decide on a software solution). now that i quickly organize and locate certain albums i know what i want to delete or add from my library.

i actually like the mmjb method. ephpod was slow and crashed a lot, xplay wasn't bad but i'd rather do mmjb for free.
