Super-tagger

So, I'm really really anal.

I hate it when artists are filed by their first names (ryan adams, tim easton) rather than their last name and then their first (adams, ryan; easton, tim)

is there a program I can download to help me edit the tags for an entire album all at once, rather than having to do it by hand?

timelinechick,

Are you a Mac user or are you a Windows user? Which version of Mac OS or Windows are you using?

No problem. I'm going to move this thread over to the "Windows Software" forum, perhaps you'll get some good hits over there.

I personally don't know any app that'll take the Artist string and edit it in the way that you're wanting. It might take a combination of software to do it best (I'm thinking "export to Excel spreadsheet" and so on).

Good luck, and welcome to the lounge!

Let's see, if I've got this right you're just looking for an application that will let you mass edit tags right? I mean, you just want to change the Artist tag on each of your albums. You don't mind doing it Album by Album right?

Well, you can use any good tag editor. You can download id3-tagit (www.id3-tagit.de). It's free. Just select the songs you want to edit and click the "Batch Tag" toolbar button. You can then change the Artist to the way you like it.

You don't even have to do it album by album, you can select all the songs for a specific artist and change it.

There are others, I just like this one, it's free and works well.
