1.3 seriously lacking for 2g
Hey y'all...
Anyone else with me that 1.3 updater for 2g ipods is a complete waste for the avg user w/o playlists on the fly. I downloaded the file, and just when i went to install it i thought: why bother? I have decent battery life (the claim that you'll get better battery life with the update is BS, IMHO) and I know that to get the backlight on, just hold down the menu button for a second or two, so why bother?
Am I totally off base in thinking that we're becoming marginalized? Is it really that difficult to put that one feature that we've been clamoring over for the past few years into the new firmware? And yet the feature we get is for itunes4... Hey, not for nothing but I use MC9, and am in no way gonna recode my 3000+ songs to aac, nor am I going to go to the itunes music store... so really, what's the deal here?

Why do you expect apple to give you play lists on the fly?? if they did that why would anyone buy a 3g?

You get AAC support, so when iTunes for Win comes out you'll be all set to buy more from them. ;)

I have found that after the 1.3 update, my iPod just SOUNDS better - I think they must have tweaked the mp3 decoding s/w a little. So not a waste of time IMO.

being weak. I hopped right out and downloaded it, installed it, and instantly my battery life went from 11 hours to four!!!
So I went back to 1.26 and (to answer the question of it being a bad battery) look at that, 11 hours again!!!
The 1.3 update may have provided a backlight utility, and may have improved MP3 sound quality, but my question is does 1.26 support .aac, or does .aac support require the update? I for one would like to dabble in iTunes when it becomes available, but not at the expense of battery life.
Any help here?
