Xplay and update to 2.0.1

hi guys,
I'm not an advance user of Ipod. I have the 1st generation ipod for MAC but I use for windows with Xplay. I never update the software.
So far I can download files from my Hard drive to my Xplay.
I'm just curious about updating the software for my ipod, because the Apple store said that the 2.0.1 for windows ipod can "improve my battery life".
do any of you know, if I update the software, I can stil use Xplay?
Because I don't want to use Musicmatch jukebox (not user friendly).

The 2.0.1 update is only for 3rd gen iPods. So you can't use that.

You could install the 1.3 update for your 1st gen iPod. I believe Xplay will work fine w/that.
