How do u get songs from a cd onto the ipod?

It said that the audio track must be converted to a mp3 format and I couldn't find how to do just that.

You need to "rip" the CD into MP3. This will convert the tracks on the CD into MP3 files, what the iPod will play. The mp3 files will be on your computer and in the MMJB library. Then, when you sync your iPod those files get copied to the iPod.There should be a "Rip" button in MMJB.
You might want to check out the MMJB help file before you do anything so you undertand how everything works.
