Has anybody who has the 1.3 update gotten audible bookmarks to works after syncing. If so, what software are you using?

Yes, it works after syncing. Byt, if you're using MMJB, you must update to 7.5.5005 and make sure you have the updated iPod plugin. (Follow the link to MusicMatch from iPod website.) With older MMJB, the Audible files appear on the iPod but they don't play. Updating MMJB fixes that.
Recommended software-
MMJB 7.5.5005 / AudibleManager 4.0 combo.
Xplay 1.1.3 /AM 4.0
seems to work well using Xplay for MP3 and AM 4.0 for Audible files.
Ehpod 2.7 works, except that it somehow renders the iPod incapable of maintaining Audible bookmarks and only way to fix is to restore the iPod and avoid using Ephpod (or you can deal with losing your bookmarks every time you use Ephpod. I love Ephpod myself so I hope he fixes this. )
Haven't tried MC9, so I can't comment

So do I understand this correctly? That if I use Eph to transfer my audible books this update still does not bookmark my Audible stuff? That I need to use either MM or Xplay and Xplay doesnt download. Ugh rather then use MM for anything I'd consider sticking to 1.2.6 Plz and thanks

Firmware 1.3 adds bookmark support to the Windows iPod.
However, when I last checked, it seems that Ephpod 2.7 had not been updated to take advantage of this feature. From my experience, and others have had the same, even if you update the iPod to 1.3, if you do connect your iPod using Ephpod, you're iPod will no longer retain bookmarks at all. The only way I could get it to work again is to reformat the iPod. (and then not use Ephod).
There is no advantage to sticking with 1.26. But if you use Ephod, you may not be able to take advantage of the new bookmarking feature.
MMJB and Xplay both released an upgrade that takes advantage of the Audible support offered in Apple firmware 1.3, so hopefully Ephpod will update soon also. They just realeased 2.71 but I haven't tried it yet. I hope that will fix my problem.
Ephpod is my fav. for transferring music, but with the incompatibility issue, I can no longer use it.

Thanks very much for taking the time to respond. I'm pretty much thoroughly confused now. At the bottom of Eph.com there is a link that says..."download the latest ephpod for windows 2000/nt
xp and windows ipods...(included audible, aac, and unicode support...released 5/15/03. Is this not true? I downloaded it and still no bookmarks. Perhaps the no bookmarks is just a bug?

pjeffery,
Ephpod 2.7 does say it supports Audible. But I think your right in that there must be a bug in it that messes up my iPods ability to bookmark. (others have reported the same thing).
Ephpod 2.7 will read Audible files and I can even transfer them, but after transferring anything with Ephpod, my iPod will no longer hold bookmarks. and the only fix is to do a firmware restore, and reload everything.
And given that this only occurs with Ephod, and not MMJB or XPlay, it seems to me an Ephpod bug.
So if want your iPod to keep bookmarks in Audible files, my recommendation at this point is to avoid Ephpod altogether until this gets fixed. Xplay and MMJB seem to work fine.
Might help if you send an email to Ephpod and let him know you care! Squeaky wheels get the oil.

Thanks Para...appreciate your response. I think I will send (I believe his name is Jim) a note. Otherwise I will keep EPH...MusicMatch is a poor POOR 2nd to Eph and it irritates me greatly to use that cumbersome POS when there is something as user friendly as EPH or Xplay which I also have. My apologies to any affectionados of MM but I'd love to know the payoff that MM gave to Apple to bundle the software with Ipod....grrrrr.
