Initial steps to get Ipod to work with MC9?
I've read through many of the threads here and also checked out Adam's MC9 help page, all of which have been very useful. But, I am still of unsure of the exact steps I should take with my Ipod when I get it (shortly) to make it work with MC9 out of the box. I don't plan on installing MMJB at all - I just want a step-by-step description of how to install the Ipod and then get MC9 to work with it. Thanks in advance.

Aye, dig:
1. Go and download (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/) the 2.0.1 updater and iPod Software package from Apple. Install it. Reboot.
2. Plug in your iPod. The iPod manager may pop up, if it does, use the "Updater" button to launch the updater. If it doesn't, launch the updater manually: Start > Programs > iPod.
3. Use the updater to [i]restore/[i] your iPod. Follow the on-screen directions.
4. Once it's finished, use the iPod manager's menu to unmount your iPod (right-click the sytem tray icon to get the menu). Once it's unmounted, unplug it. <note: this step is just for "warm fuzzies" mostly... it's a bit un-necessary, but do it anyhow>
5. Download and install the most recent version of MC9. Launch MC, plug in your iPod, wait for the iPod to mount, goto "CDs, DVDs, & Handhelds" menu in MC9, right-click your iPod and select "Format iPod".
6. You're ready to go! right-click it, selct "Synchronize files" and get a-synching!

Thanks for the help! I'm looking forward to getting this. Is that 2.01 software the same software that comes with the Ipod or is that unique to the website? Also, I find it strange that most of you guys love MC9 but if you look at Cnet it has a horrible rating with people complaining of crashes, etc. I'm williing to take a shot at it I was just wondering why the huge swing in opinions.

Yeah, I've read that review. Not sure what happened. They must have been using an older version or something. It's very stable. I can't remember the last time I had a crash.
So, believe me, don't always believe what you read. And user reviews are notorious for competitors posting reviews etc. That's what I've seen at downloads.com. Very strange that.
Just try it, that's what a trial is all about.
Regarding the 2.0.1. There will be a version of that software on the CD, but most likely it's the 2.0 version. You want the newer one, that's why Kurt instructed you to download and install it from Apple directly.
