Steps to Switch From MMJB to EphPod
Note, you will lose all music that you have on your ipod following these steps.
Also, this is written for EphPod versions 2.58 and 2.59. Version 2.60 is currently in beta, the only difference in these steps is that in version 2.60 you shouldn't have to delete the ipod_control folder as listed below.
Steps to Follow if you want to keep MMJB & the iPod Plugin Installed
Use this method if you're just going to try out EphPod
1. Open up MMJB
2. In the Portable Devices window, select the iPod drive
3. Click the Option Button
4. On the "iPod" tab. Check the "Enable Firewire Disk Mode"
5. Close MMJB
6. Open up My Computer
7. Open up the iPod drive (it will be one of the new drive letters)
8. Make sure "View Hidden Files" is enabled under Tools>Folder Options. This setting is located on the "View" tab.
9. Delete the ipod_control folder. If you don't see it, see step 8.
10. Open up Ephpod.
11. If you see a message about MacOpener, ignore it, click "Next"
12. EphPod will prompt you that it needs to create directories, let it
13. It will write "Mac Files" (don't worry, they aren't mac files) and you'll be set. For instructions on using EphPod, read the on-line manual (http://www.ephpod.com/help/index.html).
[i]Steps to follow if you want to keep MMJB but DON'T want to keep the iPod Plugin[/u]
Follow these steps if you're having problems connecting w/MMJB
1. Uninstall the iPod Plugin for MMJB
2. Uninstall the iPod in Device Manager, located under Disk Drives.
3. Reboot
4. Without the iPod connected to your PC, launch the iPod Updater program, located in Start>Programs>iPod>Updater. It will say "No iPod Connected", that's fine
5. Connnect your iPod. The Updater should recognize your iPod. Close the Updater. (Note: if the updater doesn't recognize your iPod at this point, you may have a firewire problem. Search the boards, or post your problem on the Tech Support (http://www.xsorbit1.com/users/dennx/index.cgi?board=techsupport) board here in the 'lounge.
6. Open up My Computer
7. Open up the iPod drive (it will be one of the new drive letters)
