AAC for Windows
Now I have not been a good boy and kept up with the AAC codec for the Windows platform, probably because I'm a Mac head, but I would like to know if Windows has any software that supports the AAC codec?
Are they still mp4'less?
If there is a way to encode in mp4 (AAC) what software should I look for?
Thanks

Well, the problem is not in encoding the mp4's the problem is getting them onto the iPod, and get the information updated in the iPod DB.
For encoding you can go with Quicktime, Nero, aacenc, and fastenc. There may be a few more, but those are the ones I am familiar with.
The only all in one is Sveta from DBPoweramp which uses aacenc and fastenc and is the only way to tag mp4's and properly transfer them to the iPod.
ephPOD will transfer, but will not update the DB.
foobar2000 will play mp4's and tags them to the iTunes standard, but this is useless as no program supports it.
There is a plugin available for winamp classic that plays mp4's.
Think that covers it.

Is there a way to actually rip and encode with Quicktime on a PC or is it limited to converting from an MP3 to ACC?

Quicktime Pro will encode .wav files from CD to AAC (mp4), but it will not do the extraction. For that you need a tool like EAC. I use Plextools with my Plextor drive.

I have been doing some tests with AAC in Quicktime - and I have managed to encode an mp4 track - but how can I get it onto my iPod ?
When I try to put it on with XPlay, it tells me that my iPod only supports mp3, aif and wav ?
Any ideas how I can get my test mp4 onto my iPod ?
