Tagging help - Auto tag genre without full albums?

Is there a tool to autotag genre for individual tracks where only the artist and name are guaranteed to be "in place" in their tag slots (album name and track number may not be correct or absent).

I managed to hose my genre tags and did not rip the entire CDs.

My impression is the genre autotag stuff out there requires the full album to be ripped.

Please, please give an option other than manually doing this track by track or reripping all these CDs...

Well, you don't have to do it track by track or even album by album. But you'll have to do it manually. A good tag editor will let you mass tag, so you could say, select all the songs by and entire artist and enter the genre once and apply that genre to all the songs for that artist.

Id3tagit (www.id3-tagit.de) is a good free tag editor.

You can also change genres in iTunes database without touching actual ID3 tags. Check your iPod uploader software manual how to do that.
