Adams Media Center Help Guide
Adam's post from over at the old lounge:
Kurt hath requested, I must oblige the all mighty moderator.
I threw together a little MJ User Guide since so many new folks are trying it out. Sort of a tutorial of sorts on the basics of Media Center (formerly Media Jukebox) and getting tunes onto the iPod with it:
Here's the link folks, please don't blast my writing or my spelling errors...it's damm late for me
http://www.home.earthlink.net/~ashawley01/
You can also download it as a standalone off-line file here (http://www.home.earthlink.net/~ashawley01/mc9_help.chm) (right-click the link and select "Save Target As").
Since I'm in the mood for plagarism today, I thought maybe this should be over here as well. This guide is a great place to start (Media Center 9 now as an almost all inclusive help section, but Adam's guide is extremely useful for getting started).

And since I'm in the mood for editing the plagarized thread I'll do that! ;)
I've also put together a little smartlist primer that might help some of you on putting together a complex smartlist. This was just a one page deal I did to help a user out, but it basically goes through the motions of making smartlists. I haven't checked out the new comprehensive help in MC9, but for what it's worth it's here (http://www.home.earthlink.net/~ashawley01/data/smartlist_example.htm)

Nice guide. I checked out the Smartlist section, as I've been experimenting with them now. I made some pretty cool Smartlists of my jazz collection by BPM and Intensity. I also made a John Williams Smartlist (I suppose I could have done that with a simple Playlsit). But how do you order albums within a Smartlist. Let's say I want to order my Star Wars soundtracks from Episodes I through VI in a Smartlist.
Where's a link to a thread or guide that will give me interesting ideas for Smartlists to create?
BTW, I'm still using the original version of MC9. I've been meaning to upgrade for a while now. Anyway, I gather from previous postings that, once I upgrade, all my playlists and Smartlists will remain intact. Sounds like the latest version is fairly stable, right?

# 5 Re: Adams Media Center Help Guide
I went through the (very helpful) guide for prepping a 3G iPod
for MC, and am stuck on the formating.
I'm running MC 9.1.298 and updated my 20GB to 2.1,
named it IPOD, but once I try the format from within MC,
it tries but instantly fails.
Any advice?
Thank you in advance,
Pete

Ah, wait, got it. As mentioned in the MC forums, you need to
uninstall then re-installl MC to get it to wake up to the IPOD
correctly.
Works like a charm now! And there are my ratings!
So much for getting any work done today...
