Oh, there are some of us on the forums. :D
First off, there's no truth to the rumor you heard about making playlists and saving battery life. Not sure where you heard that. But it just isn't true.
But, one of the best things about MC9 is its smartlists. Have you checked out the help guide (it's a sticky at the top of this board). It should get you all started about how to create smartlists and sync them.
It's better w/the MC9 to sync rather than use the Upload feature. It's just more robust. Check out the help guide I put together, it has all the details.
Also, when you're accessing the iPod in MC9, you want to make sure you're accessing it from the CDs, DVDs and Handhelds tree item, not from the My Computer section. It will still be a drive letter under that area (probably F: in your case), but that's where the iPod is viewed and managed (cds, dvds and handhelds).
Hope that helps you some.

ok thanks, but even bigger problem just occured... i did what it said in your help thing. the uploading songs by sync'ing. and i slected deleted all songs not slected. (i ment to) and becasue i am testing playlist right now, i only click on 1 playlist, and it is only about 35 songs, out of my total of 400 ripped.
so i deleted all 400 except for the 35.
but the playlist still isnt on the ipod!!!!!! on the playlist folder, on the ipod itself, there is on-the-go, and a blank line. when i click on the black line, there is just a blank screen, no artis of songs.
and when i browse, onlt the songs from the 1 playlist are there.
but in the about screen it says i am useing over 3GB!!
HELP HELP HELP.
ps. i am in the cd,dvd, handheld part of mc9.

OK, you've only got a few songs on the iPod right? Just do a reformat and let's start clean. Right click the iPod in MC9 and select "Format for Media Center". Then resync the playlist. It should show up.

ok reformatted, and uploaded just the 1 playlist. and that workes! WEEEEEEEE!!!
and then i uploaded all my other 400 songs. (took like 5 mins, that fast?)
and then i sync'ed it with another playlist with the songs already on the player. and it WorKED! THANK YOU!

450 songs in 5 minutes. Yup, that's about right. You should be getting about a song a second (or less than a second). So, sounds right to me.
Glad it worked out.
