Ephpod working switch to MC9?

Well, I am a new iPoder just got a 15Giger last week. I have read about a lot of problems with XP and firewire cards and Ephpod, etc. I plugged my ipod into my existing firewire card on my XP system, launched Ephpod, and loaded music... Not a glich.

So my question is... is MC9 worth going to... I have read a lot and it seems to be well liked SW.

My situation is this... Must all of my collection is well tagged using Ultratagger. I have adjusted gain for most of my collection with MP3Gain, and I can upload just fine with Ephpod, and I rip with EAC/Lame. My collection is well organized just using windows explorer and a well organized file structure.

The 2 things that might be nice in MC9 are 1) playlist functionality, I have not really spent much time with playlists and think I need to. 2) MC9 seems to have better playback than Winamp on my PC. I also have a TV Tuner card that MC9 seems to be able to support, but that is not a priority.

I welcome any thoughts...

Also?? Any other good forums for discussion of winamp/MC9 etc as far as just PC audio? Something not specific to portable audio?

thanks

I'd just say use it and see if you like it. You're obvioulsy knowledgable about mp3s and what not. What I like about it is that I can do everything in one place and don't have to lose any quality. I can use LAME and Digital Secure ripping, I can tag, organize, I can adjust the gain (w/o having to alter the mp3 files) and I can build really slick smartlists which help me organize what's on my iPod. It helps a lot when you have a library that's bigger than will fit on your iPod.

So, play with it and see if you like it. If not, stick w/what you've got.

Oh, but do make sure you download the 9.1 beta and don't go w/9.0. The 9.1 beta is much slicker.

Is there somewhere that I can download 9.1 without ftp? I saw a week or so back the link from the forum, but could never get past the ftp download thing. Never worked for me in the UK.

I kinda like v9.0 - but boy it crashes like crazy at times. Love to give 9.1 a go.

Cheers,

Inj.

What browser are you using? You should be able to just click the link for it. Have you tried right clicking the link and doing "Save Target As..."

I'm using IE6 on XP. Tried using 'save as' too. Just says FTP session terminated.

Can't ftp to anywhere so it seems...

Try emailing them (or posting on the JRiver Media Center board), they'll get you a copy.
