MC9 sorting problem

Hi,

I have a problem when I import files to my IPOD via MC9. Basically, say I have a mixtape which I want to import exactly as it is on my HD, when I do this MC9 somehow manages to resort all the song orders into what appears to be track listings/alphabetically. I have numerous albums that I cannot play as they are meant to be played as the sequences are all changed round after importing. How can I import files exactly as they are without MC9 altering anything?

Regards

MC9 isn't altering things, it's going off of the track# tags that are on the songs when you import them. If you don't have track# tags populated on these songs, then it will probably sort them alphabetically.

Either make sure the tags are there before you import them, or better yet, just do it from w/in MC9.

Hi,

The problem with that is that due to the size of the cds I listen to, sometimes there are upwards of 50+ tracks per cd, and so individually altering the properites of each track (which after importing into MC9 isnt in the corresponding order anyways) is really time consuming.. Is there any 3rd party software that can possibly do this for me, or do I have to alter it all manually by this method?

Curious, 50+ tracks per CD? Now, what type of music is that?

Anyway, I'm not sure how to help you out. I'm curious as to what program you use to listen to the tunes now? How was it sorting them? Normally they all use tags. If the tags are not populated, then you need to populate them. You can auto-populate the tags, but you first need to sort the tracks the way you want them (by dragging and dropping them to the write order), then select the option to Fill Track Numbers from list order.

Or, another solution would be to rip the CDs in MC9. Then it'll put them in the order they are on the CD.

Its just mixtapes and so on, most tracks are only a couple of minutes long, but this also happens with normal CDs I have ripped to MP3. THanks for confirming that I need to autopopulate each track details and sort things the way I want them, its going to be time consuming but if thats what I gotta do then so be it. Thanks for all your help :)
