Random smartlists - They dont work in Ipod

Hi there,
I have created a few random smartlists but when I sync and upload to Ipod I only ever get the same tracks created even if I use the random 1 hour smartlist. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
Karl

You are only going to get the specific tracks selected by the playlist at the time of sync'ing. The smart playlist feature is for MC, not the Ipod. The Ipod will only see the specific music sync'd.

Hope that made sense

What he's saying Karl is that each time you sync, the playlist on the iPod will get updated. It will stay that way until you sync w/MC9 again. But the good news is each sync w/result in a fresh playlist.

The iPod does not support a random playlist separate from the computer. Meaning, each time you select the playlist on the iPod it gets refreshed.

At least on WiPods this isn't supported. MiPods are a different story, but I believe the only "auto-refreshing" playlist on MiPods are ones based on playcounts (i.e. your top 100 tunes or whatever).

Actually i have a similar problem.. I can't get my playlist to randomize every time I synch my ipod with my pc. btw, im using mc9.1.256

What I've done is create a smartlist with a bunch of songs on it, then added the modifier sort:random. Each time i refresh it, it's randomizing the songs. The first time I sync, it creates the playlist in my ipod and the order is random. However, after that it's set in stone seemingly, and all the resyncs don't change the order of the playlist on the ipod. however, if I delete the playlist, then sync again, it will re-create the playlist in a random order.

What's going on; I must be missing something very simple because I've searched this forum for awhile and everybody seems to have taken this for granted :)

I believe there was a random bug in .256. Get the latest version, I believe .260 will be out today.
