Speed Problems

I've been using mmjb for all this while since I've got my ipod, and decided to take the plunge into mc9 after reading all the good comments here.

I've got things setup, but the first time I tried synching my ipod, i'm getting pretty slow speeds, max of 4mb / sec.

Is that normal? Even mmjb was faster than this.. needless to say, i'm slightly disappointed by this speed. Also, although my database only has about 1200 songs, the dialog box says i have more than 10000 songs.

What's the problem here?

Something is off there--I synch at about 8 mb/s. If Adam doesn't come to the rescue, you might want to post this over at the Jriver forum, along with your computer's info (which you can get from MC9 by going into help>system info).

Oh, btw, do you still have mmjb on your HD? I'd try getting rid of it if you do, and try synching after it's gone--see what happens.

Well, when you say 10000 songs, I assume you're referring to the number of songs that are being uploaded on the sync dialog box? That's actually off. It's the count of the number of songs if you took all your playlists and added all the songs up. Since you've probably got playlists that have the same song in the (playlist 1 w/song A and playlist 2 w/song A) it counts them twice on that counter.

I does not upload them twice though.

As far as your speed, I'm really surprised at that. Are you comparing the initial upload to a sync w/MMJB where most of the songs were uploaded already? That could be it. I get around 5MB per second, but that's on an initial upload. After that (when it's just refreshing playlists) I get like 200MB per second. Of course, that's not an indication of how fast it's tranferring data, becauase all it's doing is updating the iPod's database (not copying songs).

Sorry, that was probably confusing... ;)
